Gets The Job Done

I knew I had to cut 8 new 6" duct takeoffs for my finished basement and I was not looking forward to it. So I went looking for a tool to reduce my likely frustration. I did not want to spend a ton since I was going to be doing this hundreds of times, but I wanted it to work. I think this tool hits the sweet spot of cost vs performance. It is simple to use and takes about 2 minutes or so to cut a hole. It makes a super clean hole, with only the last 1/8" or so needing to be cut with a snip tool (or bent back with pliers). Its also nice that the tool helps keep your hand away from the cut edges. Would buy again.

Perfect!

It worked very well. I cut a 6” diameter hole in my plenum and the starter sleeve fit just fine. I went slow and it took roughly 1.5-2 minutes to cut the hole. I went clockwise and the edges on the whole were relatively clean and smooth. No directions included so I had to watch a couple of videos to see how it is done. Very pleased with the results.

Use this to cut a hole in my return duct for a fresh air ventilator. This tool made it a piece of cake.

Go slow or you will snap the bit!

The product is great. It works best with a right angled drill. Let the tool do the work because if you rush it, you will snap the bit and you only have 1 extra till you go to the store and buy more.

Great tool.

I really do hate to see a great tool get a bad rep. I have used Malco and Klein tools for over 20 years. This hole cutter especially. It cuts my job time down to more than half when cutting holes in plenums and trunk lines. Especially if you are on the bottom floor working off a ladder between joist and flooring. Just be sure to wear eye protection and long sleeves. The metal shards coming off are somewhat hot. I have read some of the reviews and seen some of the images posted here. This is why I am posting an image of a thickness gauge. Some of the images posted look to be much thicker than even 20 gauge steel. It is not designed for that thickness.

Worked

This worked ok like a Klein tool but seemed to cut slower then I would have expected. I cut 5 - 10" holes and it did cut consistently the same. The speed of cut could have been due to the speed of the drill I was using. It's a solid tool like most Klein.

Cool Klein tool

What a cool tool! Cuts perfect circles in tin for covering up abandoned plumbing cans in parkade. When using the tool don’t force it or the bit will break. Just let the tool do it job and you’ll be happy with this purchase

Does not work as well as the Malco hc1. Struggles to cut holes cleanly. Klein should be better than this
