Surprisingly necessary!

This makes disposing of the used pucks easy and without mess. The smaller one would, I'm afraid, not do either as easily. This 1 is easily worth the money.

A nice Knock box, but a bit big

The Breville knock box is super nice and helps not loosing the filter into the garbage can when removing the puck. The one purchase is however a little big. I would have chosen the smaller one. I don't have a picture.

Integral component of espresso making

Before I purchased my espresso maker I didn’t understand why I would want a special container for the used coffee grounds. I went ahead and purchased this based on the recommendation made on a review of the espresso maker I was purchasing. After using the espresso maker I soon came to appreciate the value of the “knock box”. First you start to generate a lot of used grounds as you use your espresso maker that you have to dispose of. Second, the used grounds don’t just fall out of the puck by themselves, you need to knock the puck against something to eject the grounds from the puck or you need to dig the grounds out of the puck yourself.. You quickly understand the value of the knock box to effectively dispose of the grounds. I would highly recommend this box for anyone with an espresso maker.

Super solid

Tried another knock box until we received this one and it was half the size and a quarter of the weight. I love the sturdiness and size of this one and I love that the inside is removable for cleaning so it's not as heavy.

It's big

I almost sent it back when I saw the size. Then I saw the quality of it and I couldn't help myself I kept it but if you don't have room in your kitchen this is not for you.

Large, does the job

As a disclamer, I bought this as a refurbished return for a substantial discount, so would consider it a fantastic value for money at the price I paid for it. It's a knock box, and it does that very well - the "cross beam" is heavy and substantial, but does not damage the group head. Be advised that this thing is big and heavy - there is a lot of aluminium in the base, and the plastic insert is pretty substantial as well. On the plus side this will keep everything stable while in use, but the knock box is almost as big as our counter top coffee grinder, and dwarfs our Breville milk frother, so keep counter space in mind when ordering.

Functional and attractive!

Cleans easily. Works really well. Looks much more attractive on my counter than what I was using previously for my coffee grounds.
