I ordered this pair of boots because of the message on the boot’s sole. I also like the three crosses and what it represents, as well as the crown of thorns on the top of the boot. While not many will see the top of the boot unless you tuck your pants into the boot, more will see the sole if you cross your feet while sitting. Once a person asks you about the boots this give you the opportunity to witness to them if they are receptive. On to the boot. I ordered an 11D and they are a bit tight but not too tight, however an 11 ½ D would not have been too loose. My advice is that go up a size, and if it ends up being a bit loose, you can always add an insole of varying thickness to take up the room. The leather seems to be very durable, but not as soft as other boots, so make sure you wear over the calf socks the first few times you wear them so they will not rub blisters on the back of your legs. Some people may worry about the message on the sole coming off, but don’t. It is a very thick clear cover of the sole as heel that will protect it for many miles of walking. Note however that you don’t want to scuff them up for traction as you want the bottom of the boots message to last as long as possible. This being said, they will be more slippery than a normal boot, so be aware of that if you wear them in the rain, sleet or snow. This will not be a daily boot, or even a party, or dress boot. This boot however will be worn with pride, and hopefully allow me to tell people why I wear this boot. This is a well made boot, that will take a bit to break in, but afterwards will be very comfortable. This boot looks better on, than off, so if you don’t like it out of the box, try it on with different colored jeans, and I think you just might start liking it more. You buy this boot for a message, and this boot fits the bill for this exceptionally well
