THESE ARE PERFECT!!!

I am an older woman, and it isn't always easy to get someone to help me with little "handyman" projects. I had a white hook in my ceiling that was holding a hanging lamp for many years. The hook itself didn't break, but the top of the lamp did, bringing the hook down with it. This left a hole in the ceiling that left a "pilot" hole to install this hook. It is very, very sturdy. The only thing I had trouble with was having enough strength to finish the install once it was about halfway in. I just grabbed a pair of pliers to give me some leverage, and within minutes I had this installed. I will definitely be ordering more of these!!

Easier to use than I thought

I was contemplating a butterfly hook with drilling a hole for a 3 pound artwork. This product did what I needed much easier and the hook is not an inadvertent focal point.

Best heavy duty plant hooks

I hardly ever write reviews, but as an avid plant keeper who also has cats and needs to keep toxic plants out of reach, this is THE BEST hook. I have been through so so many hooks with the smaller threads, and they always end up falling out. These deep threads are made to really grab into drywall. I have some pretty large pots that even after fully watering have never even budged. As some people have reported, you may get a dud, where the shaft breaks, I won't deny it's happened to me too. But with the number of these I buy, I'd say it's 5% of ones that snuck through quality control. They do leave a large hole behind when you remove them, but that's nothing a little spackle can't fix. Save yourself ALL the headaches and fallen plants that leave big ugly rips in your ceiling and get these bad boys!

Surprisingly sturdy

I was a bit nervous after reading the negative reviews and just intimidated at the idea of spending so much for *one* single hook. But I was pleasantly surprised. It was far larger and thicker than I expected. I am using it for hanging plants, and once I figured out the appropriate placement in relation to the wall, I just screwed it in by hand. No pilot hole needed, nor was one indicated in the instructions. I installed two hooks very quickly and found that grabbing the hook between my thumb and side of the index finger (rather than tip of the thumb and tip of the index finger) made it go into the drywall quite easily with great leverage. Very pleased! Will update the review if the plants fall ;-)

Sturdy, clean look

Make sure it's where you want it. Excellent self-drilling anchoring system, but it will leave a 1/2" hole if you remove it. Hook opening clearance: 5/8" Maximum inside span: 7/8" Max hook point thickness: 1/4" Profile hook point thickness: 3/16" Anchor max diameter: 1/2" Anchor drill core: 1/4" It's suspending 51oz. in 1/2" gypsum and feels secure. So far, so good.

Yeah it broke

Like some other reviews, the tip of the screw did unfortunately break off on me and the pins on the flat portion left me with a bare hole in my ceiling, unfortunate but I knew it was a chance when I purchased it.

Mine broke

I was one of the unlucky ones whose hook snapped off at the tip and was thus rendered useless and left with a giant hole in the ceiling. If it worked, I can see how it would be very sturdy, as it's a very heavy metal piece. I also struggled with screwing it in by hand, it really wasn't that easy to do, but maybe I'm just a weakling. I've posted pictures of the packaging and instructions for those who are interested, since (at the time I'm writing this) they're not included in the product images.
