Absolutely fantastic!
I was looking for counter-height stools for the island in my kitchen, and at the Ashley store the 24" height looked SO short! I never would have believed that they would be correct. I looked around at other local places (Valu City, Raymoor) but all their stuff seemed really cheap. The best stuff I found was at Ashley, and I'm not an Ashley Furniture snob, in fact I'm picking up my living room set from ValuCity on Tuesday. I just shop around and find the best stuff that each place offers. Anyway, got home, measured the height, measured me, and turns out that 24" is a lot higher than you'd think, and is what is known as "counter height". I found these on the Ashley furniture main web site, searched for them on Amazon, they had them at an absolutely amazing price of $40/ea (and I say that seriously, $40 a piece ... that's unreal! From China or not, it's a great price for what you get!). The packaging, the assembly, and the overall "heft" of the product is incredible. The seat is wood-ish material, but even if it's not real wood, it's dense, it's very hard and thick, and has been coated (I'm assuming a commercial polyurethane) at least 10 times. It's built to last and take a beating. And to top it off, for those in the "know", the screws holding them together had loctite pre-applied! $40/ea ... I can't get over that price. Oh yeah ... and free shipping!!! I never add pictures to reviews, but this one is worth it. I couldn't be happier with the quality of these and the overall product. (update 4/5/2015 - I noticed the price has gone up. When I purchased it was $80 for the pair)

Great Deal for Signature Design
They are perfect. They were wrapped well and arrived without a scratch. All hardware was included. Easy to assemble if you read directions first. You MUST NOT tighten the screws until all12 screws are in the stool. You will see why as you go. Very high end look and feel on these stools. Ashley products are well worth the praise and the time I give to write this about their product. UPDATE... My original review was exactly how I felt at the time. Well, minimal use and 3 months later, the first stool leg snapped completely off. one week later, the second in the exact same place. Beware, they will charm you at first, but you will be spending more money to replace them in 90 days.

These stools are super sturdy so I no longer have to worry about a really large person sitting at the snack bar and folding the chair by accident and possibly hurting themselves. They're also small in profile so I'm able to fit 4 very easily at the snack bar and could probably fit 2 more if I wanted to. If you want a simple, sturdy, relatively inexpensive purchase, this is a great deal. If you're looking for a more upscale look and feel, these may not suit your desire. When you move these around on the floor, they make a tinny noise as you set it down in a new location. Kind of cheap sounding if you notice sounds furniture makes when in use. But, they're definitely suitable to move to the round dining table to squeeze 4 more people into a 4 person table to make an 8 person setting. It gets cozy but it's still doable. :)

I like them, but you get what you pay for I guess. The metal legs are hallow and feel a little cheap, The seats are solid wood however they have small line indentations that are meant for it to look like separate boards make the seat, reminds me of the cheap fake or Formica wood from the early 80s on dressers etc. I'm considering sanding these down and doing a better job at making them look old and distressed the distressing is too uniform, they look brand new instead of intended design. The directions weren't that great for installing the ring. You have to look at it very closely and on the inside to see how it tapers so you install it with the correct side up. Definitely read the instructions and note that you shouldn't tighten any screw all the way until all have been started for including the foot ring screws. are in as well.

I've been looking for about a month for backless barstools. You might say I'm a bit picky, but I want to be 1000% sure that what I buy is something that I'm absolutely going to love. ...And I absolutely love these stools! They were extremely easy to assemble. The instructions say that it's best to have 2 people do the assembly, but all you really need is 1. The stools are lightweight and durable. Although I've had these for about a week, it's holding up pretty well. A plus is the easy breezy clean up if something should get on it. I have a 6-year-old who loves hanging out in the kitchen to do her activities. These are a must buy! And for the price for 2, where can you go wrong?! Shipping came right on time with no damages to the box or the products itself. It's well packaged.

I highly recommend if you are looking for a rustic stool.
These stools are perfect for my outside table. They are not advertised for outside, but they were exactly what I was looking for. Easy to put together and sturdy. Although they are under a patio roof, I will bring them in during the winter. Nice that I can use them also for inside extra counter seating. I can’t rate durability as I have had them only for a short time, but the wood seats are attractive and I like that the legs look sturdy.

Good stool, but maybe need some tweaks..
Coming from an engineer, the stools are fairly well built. Unfortunately probably during the manufacturing process and Welding, the little tabs that screw onto the base we're bent. Not all of them just some, so straighten them out with a pair of pliers before you crank down on the screw and possibly crack the welds. One leg came with a cracked weld, but Amazon is going to replace it for free. The paint job is nice and the wood stain is a dark rustic Brown. Overall I'm very happy for the price. And the leveling feet at the bottom is a great design feature. They are hard rubber but you could always stick a felt pad on the bottom.

Quality + Bargain!
I have a lower counter as shown in the photos they fit and look perfect matching the rest of the other dark wood furniture in our home. They’re very sturdy don’t wobble around. However when putting them together the lower ring at the bottom requires a little bit of muscle when lining up the holes otherwise it was very easy to assemble. I love them!
