Stiff and takes awhile to break-in the heel of shoe.

Have had several blisters and skin tearing on my heel of my foot to break-in this pair of shoes.

Nice Shoe - No Noise - Comfortable

Today was the first day I wore these shoes. I noticed the guy in front of me making a lot of noise while going down the hallway in his standard hard bottom shoe, while I was like a ninja! The shoe was extremely comfortable, which for me is the most important. My left foot was a little tight at the place where the toes start on the outside of the foot. (If that makes sense), but I believe it will loosen up as I wear them more. I have had Rockport shoes before and I went after this particular brand. Now they just need to start making them again to keep them in stock. Finally one was a little harder than usual.

It’s my most comfortable shoe for work ever.

I walk and stand a lot at my work place. I normally have fore foot and back pains with the wrong pair of shoes. I have never been disappointed with this shoe. I’ll buy over and over again

very nice shoe, POLISHES UP GREAT, but not a fan of the insole.

As another reviewer mentioned, i found the break-in to be longer than most shoes i've owned. Once they "cracked" and developed the toe-line, they feel great! Took about 7-8 all-day wears for me. What i found useful was alternating them (give them a day between wears to fully dry, with a spring-loaded shoe tree helping to stretch them a bit. While they weren't fully broken in on wear #3 for instance... they were a lot more comfortable. I also ditched the insole... the funky heel-ridge / air circulator just didn't do it for me.. luckily, this part is fully removable... replaced it with a standard pharmacy brand insole and they've been great. Now onto the polish - these polish up GREAT with a real polishing (and no, if it comes out of a bottle with a sponge - that's not a real shoe polishing) - i'll leave the debate on best way to wax polish a shoe for someone else, but i will say it took me about 35 minutes or so to clean the current finish (saddle soap) and work in a good wax polish (kiwi) followed by a wrist burning buffing with brush and cloth. Subsequent polishes are much easier, and they developed a very nice patina, gloss, and dropped in shade (brown full grains for me)

Very comfortable after break-in period

This is one of the best dress shoes I've ever purchased! However, it didn't start out that way. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it took quite a long time before the shoe was broken in enough to be worn comfortably. It took two weeks of wearing them 12 hrs/day before they stopped hurting my feet (I dreaded whenever I had to walk more than 10 feet at a time), but now that they're broken in, they feel great! They don't have a super glossy finish, so they're more suited for business casual than black tie. I have more formal dress shoes for special occasions, so these are exactly what I need for every-day wear. They go great with both slacks and jeans. Best of all, they're waterproof, so I don't have to worry about wet socks if I happen to step in a puddle of water while waking through a dark parking lot (happens from time to time at work). Edit (1/14/09): I thought I should mention that I mistakenly bought this 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear. That may have contributed to the extended break-in period. I didn't realize this until recently.

EDITED REVIEW) 6 MONTHS IN and the sole is falling apart at the toe on both shoes. Will not be buying these again. OG Review) Pros: They look smart, fit great, and are comfortable for an around the office shoe. They're SILENT. I make ZERO noise when I walk. Genuinely made out of materials listed, which is a plus these days with Amazon vendors. Genuinely waterproof. That's it. Cons: Only had them for a little under 1 month and the sole is already eroding away along the exact path of my foot's edge. I expect to have a hole under my big toe in another month or two. I walk about 6,000-10,000 steps per day, so I'm not very active and was hoping for the price these would at least last me 1-2years but still these are degrading at the same rate as a $20 pair of shoes from Wal-Mart. Your own arch supports are necessary. Overall, I'd say pass on these shoes unless they up the quality of the sole's durability or come down in price by $40

good for the price

Slightly stiff and plastic-y. These are not $250 shoes. But most other shoes are too narrow for most boys. These fit. They come in W and WW. (Many people are surprised to find that they have been wearing too-narrow shoes. Try the wide ones for comfort.) Very good looking and durable enough. Our boy uses these for on-stage performances but they are comfortable to walk around in all day if he is on tour. I suggest buying 3 sizes and sending back what does not fit. One time I bought 6 pair, both W and WW. We picked the pair that fit best and returned the rest. (You can compare prices on Zapppos (not spelled correctly on purpose.)) These only get worn for performances, ceremonies, etc, so he grows out of them before they show any wear. (Yes, he even lost a pair.) These are good enough for growing feet.

4th or 5th pair

These are some of the most comfy dress shoes I've ever had. They are very basic, but I like the fact they are water proof, and don't squeeze my toes. I've gone through several pairs over maybe 14 years, with most of the last 5 years of near daily wear. They have some grip on the bottom that make them decent for walking around the office, or on the street if you have to. I've also jogged in them without any issues (I know not what you should do in dress shoes). I've always gotten complements on them. They hold a shine for quite some time before feeling the need to buff and polish them. I do use shoe trees to keep their shape when not wearing them. I hope they never stop making them, as they are my favorite dress shoes.

I was so happy. I have always loved all the Rockports I ...

I had been keeping my on these for several months now and when they were priced right, I jumped at them and ordered them. They arrived in record time. I was so happy. I have always loved all the Rockports I had ordered in the past be it from here or from the store at the outlet malls. Every man should have a pair of lace ups like these. Simple and elegant. Shiny too. I love that they were packaged right and have cardboard inserts to keep their proper shape. Thank you for that. Now for the fit themselves. What can I say except, truly spectacular fit and bang on sizing. So comfortable. There is nothing wrong with this shoe. Flawless. I would love to buy another pair but my wife would have my head. I highly recommend these for anyone looking for a pair of shoes to wear as a casual thing or to even a formal affair. They are a timeless classic. Enjoy.

Hi Everyone ???? It's so hard to fine dress shoes in the store my size. when you walk into the store they just smile at you Sorry we don't have that size shoe You know they are laughing ???? I was giving up ???? can't fine my size anywhere. My beautiful fiance said to me try Amazon I was very hesitant at frist to buy dress shoes with out trying them on. I ordered a pair of rockport's men's dress shoes size 15 wide They came 1 day early happy about that eh ???????? Then came to big test trying them on when opening the box very nice it's never been opened They fit perfectly on my feet I'm very happy with my New Rockport dress shoes.
