Good tape for the most part
I like this tape for the most part. I use it for drawings to create a white border around the edges and to tape my references to the back of my finished paper to trace. I really like that it's low tack, but I also don't like that it's low tack. It does a great job not ripping my paper or leaving any residue, but it's sometimes just not sticky enough that my references will fall off the back of my paper and I'll have to realign it back up to my line drawing. Overall, it's a good tape.

Did I just get a bad batch?
I was happy using 3M Drafting Tape for many years until they stopped making it. When my supply ran out, I switched to using this PRO Drafting Tape. I was not as delighted with it as with my previous product, but it was serviceable. The last roll, however, that I purchased in May 2022 was markedly different: the tape was not as sticky as before, nor was the tape made from crepe paper anymore. It is now very similar to the well known white paper tape. I suggest trying the 3M blue Multi-Purpose Painter’s Tape #2090 as a substitute for the original. If anything, the blue tape is a passable medium between regular masking tape and white paper tape. PS: Soon after posting this review I noticed that the manufacturer actually makes two types of this tape: the “flatback” - as is this one - and a separate crepe paper version. The crepe paper one can also be found on Amazon, but must, alas, be purchased in large quantities. I will probably go to my local art supply store (Meininger) next time to purchase the type of tape that I really want one roll at a time.

Love This Tape
As much as a person can love tape, this is great stuff. I am an architect and have been drafting by hand for over 45 years so I have used a lot of drafting tape. I think this is the best I have used. This sticks well and still lifts up without damaging regular paper or tracing paper or leaving residue. It still tends to roll up under a parallel bar but it seems to hold a little better than other brands. It has other uses as well. I was decorating for a party at my house and I used this tape to hold up swags of material. To my surprise, it held firm without damaging the walls. I also suspended it between two wall to simulate the slope of the ceiling for some rooms I was designing in an attic space. From my tape line slope, I dropped more lines of tape to simulate where a planned wall would meet the ceiling. Then, I thought about it for some months. The tape held the whole time and released without damage when I finally took it down. I definitely recommend it. 5/2019 Update: I was using this tape from a subsequent order the other day and it wasn't sticking worth a darn. I saw it looked wavy on the roll as if it had been sitting in water. I am thinking it has not been exposed to excess humidity or water and may have been delivered that way, can't be sure. Anyway, do be sure to inspect your tape upon delivery to see that it it is evenly rolled onto its roll and return/exchange it if it isn't.

Not very sticky, but comes off clean
I like how easy it is to tear pieces off, however it has very weak adhesive. I know that's usually ideal to not leave residue behind on art or whatever else your making, but it starts to peel itself off. It's sticks to regular paper just fine and comes off easily, but I can hardly get it to stick to anything else. It won't stick to tracing paper and barely sticks to the smooth lap tray I use. Unless you use a lot, and cross tape the ends, even tugging accidentally on the paper can make it stop sticking.

Not great for art: Tears surface of 140# paper
I decided to try this for masking the border around watercolor paper because of the description which reads in part: - "Specially designed for stationary trades" (I assumed that stationary was misspelled and should've been stationery- which is paper, right?) - "Pro Artist tape-premium flatback paper tape" (Ok. not just for drafting/technical drawings but also for artists' work.) - "clean removal, repositionable" Plus, I liked the 1/2 inch width for my smaller projects. It's mostly good but it has torn the paper more than once. I've even tried sticking it first to another surface before applying to the watercolor paper and it still occasionally removes (lifts, tears) the paper. On the good side: There is no bleed through or under the tape - it is resistant to my tube watercolors. When it lifts cleanly it produces a straight clean edge! It tears easily just as it claims. It is easy to position - it doesn't stretch out of shape as it was placed on the marks making it easy to get a straight line. Could it be my paper? I guess it could. I used it on Strathmore 140# watercolor paper and on Strathmore Watercolor Cards. If you think that's the problem let me know. So, I need to buy something better, and save this for something else.

Doesn’t stick
I used it for watercolors and it just pulls off. Not a fan but they issued a refund so I’m not mad. It probably works good for other things.

Too Low-Tack for Crafting
Used for crafting. Very good for borders. Ink & watercolor. Does not tear the cardstock. Good for die cutting, too. It peels off too easily for crafting.
