If you move logs or rounds this will save your back!

For some reason I had never heard of this tool, even though I have been cutting and hauling my own firewood and clearing woods for over fifteen years. But I stumbled across it and thought it made sense, so I ordered one. I've had the pick for a few months and it is a perfect tool - it does what it is supposed do efficiently. Picking up rounds? Grab one end with the pick and haul it up into your arms. Moving a big log? Use the pick and your WHOLE BODY, not just your back, will move it. Lightweight, simple, tough - I can find nothing wrong and everything right with this pick.

Light but very strong

Great product easy to use and when you catch a log in the end grain it makes it very easy to lift very sizeable chunks of wood. We have a marina and use it to secure logs that get washed in off the river

Bit of a toy?

I just unpacked my 500mm version, and to be honest I'm a little disappointed. It just doesn't have the feel of a pro-tool to me. I appreciate its lightness ought to be seen as a good thing, given the way it is used, but how strong is the handle? The rivets looked prone to wear too, especially as it is taking quite a load, and frequent shock impacts. As others have said the plastic butt piece definitely doesn't look like it would last the distance. I'm a big fan of Oregon gear, good on price and quality. Perhaps if this was half the price I'd risk it for the biscuit, but in my mind for £55 simple hand tool should last a lifetime. My Stihl fibre handled stuff is thirty years old plus and good. Think I'll try a Fiskars, the extra length will be good for me too, I found the 500mm a tad short for a 6'3", unsurprisingly.
