Excellent for “hard to reach” joints.

It’s a little hard to tell, but the brick in the picture is recessed. Just far enough, and small enough, that a regular jointer, or a barrel jointer won’t really fit in there and get the corners especially!! I’ve only done a handful of cut and point jobs, and jointing, but I thought this tool was really helpful for the random off beat brick joints. Of course, this can’t replace a regular jointer as you can’t really scoop your mud with it. Not in any meaningful way anyway!

Makes a rough joint, pulls mud, good for hard mud

They work terrible on wet mud. Good for hard mud. I use them about once a month when a wall gets away from you and turns hard. It is actually faster then a barrel jointer once your mud dries out. Pull, don't push.

Useful for hard mortar and hard to reach places where a regular jointer can't fit. Not good for wet mortar at all.

A lot better on your body than the regular bullhorn jointers

I had never seen these on a job, nor did anyone else that I asked. I got them with low expectation but they quickly turned into my main jointers. Takes a bit to get used. A lot better on your body than the regular bullhorn jointers. They can easily reach joints that are a pain with regular jointers.

Handy

I've been a bricklayer over 40 years and never heard of them. When I saw it my curiosity made me get one. Very handy for tight spots or when the mortar has kicked off to hard for a conventional jointer. I like it.

Decent

Handy tool for jointing, however the construction is very basic...it's just mild steel stock with two ball bearings tacked on...but it gets the job done, next time I will make my own.
