Very sturdy and good size

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of this strainer. The plastic is very thick and likely wouldn't break easily.

I wanted this for separating liquid and grains after seeing the white version on a You Tube video about milk fermentation ('kefir'). A mesh sieve does the job but is so easily damaged I decided to upgrade. Be aware the colander is oval. It’ll be a less than perfect fit if you’re using a round bowl and may sit a little high. The advantage for me using an Anchor-Hocking Batter Bowl is that the top row of drainage slots come to rest below the rim of the glass, ensuring I avoid spillages when pouring in the liquid. The rigidity of the plastic has another big advantage over the flexibility of mesh since it lets gravity does the work of draining the liquid. This isolates the kefir grains in the bottom of the colander with very little of the continual stirring with a spoon recommended on most videos. I couldn’t get the green one I wanted in England, but I needed the contrast of something colourful to help ease the strain on my fading eyesight. I’m pleased I took the chance of buying from the U.S. store. Tough, solid, one-piece moulding and should last ages. All good as they say these days.

Beautiful Colander

This is really a fantastic utensil. It's the perfect size, weight, and level of durability. I love the base which lifts it up an inch or so. This allows you to place it in the sink and drain a pot of pasta without the water flooding the pasta. It's hard to find a plastic colander that does this. It's also very easy to clean, unlike a lot of steel or mesh colanders. The lips are molded as handles and pouring spots which are both attractive and practical. I'm also quite happy that it's made from recycled product.

How exciting can a colander be?

My wife picked this out--she loves all things red. I was hesitant as we already have a very nice stainless steel colander...and besides, this one was made of plastic. Oh, but what a good grade of plastic! Thick, sturdy and easy to handle. The best thing? It absolutely drains ALL the liquid out...no colander I have used before did that. It doesn't clog and is a breeze to clean. I was wrong...this thing is a keeper! I recommend it highly.

Great value

My kitchen has red accents and this looks great on my countertop. I use it for my potatoes rather than a colander. I do the same with onions. They’re easy to clean and ventilated to slow down sprouting.

Excellent sturdy colander.

Love the small size of this colander. The feet help it stand up in the sink without tipping over. You’d never know it was made of recycled plastic - it is very sturdy and very well made. I highly recommend this product for use with cleaning produce, etc.

LOVE IT!

Large and very sturdy! It will last a lifetime. Holes may be a bit large for smaller diameter foods but other than that, this is an excellent product. Made in USA!

Excellent quality

Hard to get excited about a colander but we were really pleased with this one. This is no lightweight dollar store piece, it is nice quality plastic. The holes may be big if you are straining something really fine (ie red lentils) but for the pasta and canned beans that we need it for, it is perfect.
