Staying hydrated
I work outdoors and as much as I tried it was too hard keeping up with water bottles, trying to get by a faucet to refill them, pausing what I was doing to drink from them... it was a hassle! I really didn't need a whole backpack and I didn't want to carry all that around all day so I thought I'd try this. It really was plug and play! Today was my second day using it and it has made staying hydrated so convenient. I fill it, drop it in a little drawstring backpack, and that's it! One refill a day versus heaven knows how many bottles of water. It's light enough that I really don't feel it, even when it's full. The other reviewers are correct about the plastic taste but that doesn't really bother me. I'm sure it'll be gone in a few days. Fingers crossed it holds up because if it does, this is a winner!

Bladder is easy to clean but...
The bladder is easy to clean and being able to turn it inside out makes it easy to get it completely dry. It is difficult to reconnect the baffles and one of the baffles seems to be pulling away from the bladder (they are taped/glued on). The valving and sealing is great, so there is no leakage, and you can remove the tube without the bladder losing water because of a nice quick disconnect connector. The tube is pretty hard to clean or dry because it has a small diameter and the tube length is longer than any bottle brush I have seen.

Sprung a leak after normal usage - update
I bought the two liter version in January of this year. I just ran a 50k with it last weekend, and it developed a leak in the bottom. Right at the seam. I've used this in maybe five races. Have never abused it. I see advertising about an amazing warranty here on Amazon. But good luck figuring out how to contact Hydrapak. After searching for a way to reach them for fifteen minutes, I still can't see how. The bladder was good until the leak. Be careful. Could be dangerous if you unexpectedly lose your water in the middle of an endurance race. Update: Though I found no way or instructions to enter a warranty claim via Amazon, the Hydropak website makes it easy to submit a claim. I did so and the company replaced the bladder. The process went smoothly and they stood by their warranty. Updating review to three stars. 4.3.23 update: I’ve used the replacement bladder numerous times now and had no issues. Have run over 100 miles with it. Increasing rating to four stars.

Almost perfect
I've used the 2l reservoir on about 5 distance runs now and really like it. The only major issue I have with it is the opening on top where you can secure it to your gear is too small. It comes with a slide on clip thing but 1) it's weak and bends and 2) it slides off when running. I have to use the clip for it to work with my ultimate direction vest because the strap button won't fit through the opening. I dont feel like the strap and button are over sized. Because the clip slides off the vest strap, I have to use sports tape to secure it. Other than the hassle of having to go this extra step, it's a problem for getting refills too. I have to cut the tape off, take everything apart, refill, put it back together, then tape it again. I'm eventually going to buy a different brand due to this.

Wow! Very Impressed
I am very impressed by the HydraPak Shape-Shift water bladder. First, for anyone wondering, the quick disconnect is perfectly compatible with the Osprey quick connectors. Second, I really like the top fill design much better than the traditional fill design with the large screw cap on the front (like camelbak). It is much easier to fill, especially while the bladder is still in the backpack. Third, the shape is much better than traditional bladders; it is rectangular instead of trapezoidal and is easier to fit into a larger variety of bladder compartments. Fourth, I really like the quick disconnect. I can disconnect the hose without the bladder leaking. This is especially useful as it allows removing the bladder from a backpack while leaving the hose in place on the backpack (no fishing it out and back in again!). Fifth, I absolutely love that I can turn it inside out and it's top-rack dishwasher safe! This makes it so much easier to clean. The material seems rugged, but not as stiff as traditional bladders, so I'll have to see just how durable it is. But I don't expect any issues since it is always used inside backpacks with dedicated bladder holders where it is well protected. The low-profile feature was a little difficult to engage at first; it is similar to a zip-loc connection. However, after applying a small amount of the included food-grade silicon lubricant, it was much easier to manipulate.

Baffle separation/reconnection is horrible, everything else is fine
Baffle is awful to reconnect and separate. It's still useful but it makes cleaning the pack a time-consuming and annoying experience, because getting it separated then linked back up is so painful. Not sure why they went with this design at all.

Great hydration bladder
I have two running packs and got this as a back up to my other 1.5L bladder. I own Hydro pack in the 2.0 L and 1.5 L. The 1.5L fits a little better in my pack, 2.0L is for longer runs. The flexibility, ease of filling, and ease of cleaning are great with this product. You can turn the bladder inside out with the exception of the clip at the top of the pack, so it can dry fully. Apparently you can even put it in the dishwasher, although I haven’t tried this. It’s also easy to remove the mouthpiece so you can clean & drain the hose with a hose brush. I really like the bite valve design with a lock to avoid leaks in transport. Pro hint: buy an extra bite valve in case if emergency failure. Mine went in the middle of a 23 mi trail run. I was SOAKED from water dripping down my front. Had I used the hose with a locking valve, or had a spare bite valve, it would have been fine.

Lightweight reservoir
The reservoir is very lightweight and the 2l size is ideal for my needs when hiking. The Shape-shift turns itself inside out and I find this useful for when cleaning it. Took a bit of an effort to pull the baffle apart but once worked out it becomes a lot easier to do.

Initial plastic taste can be easily removed
Others have mentioned the plastic taste of the bladder. This is fairly normal for most hydration bladders. The simplest way for removing the taste is to do the following: Fill bladder with water Add 3 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda Shake bladder Add 6 tablespoons of lemon juice - it will foam so do it over the sink. Leave for 8 to 10 hours Empty and rinse thoroughly

Ease of use in the air

Poor design and bad taste
The shape shift split the first time I tried to open it as the strip attaching it to the bladder wall is nit strong enough. Also the water has a bad taste. I’ve used it 3 or 4 times and the taste still exists. Bought a Hydrapak before which lasted years. Not worth spending extra for this feature.

Works as intended
A few teaspoons of baking soda with warm water,let sit in the blatter for 2 hours and the plastic taste should be minimal. Great bladder for the price. But I'm certain I paid 30$ for the 2L not $53. Why do companies feel the need to be so greedy these days. We were taught better than this. deception and over marketing is among us.
