Button remains lit, and we like that.
This inexpensive doorbell button worked well. I just connected the two wires to the screw posts, and attached to the wall. Simple but effective!

Great Doorbell Button Replacement
This is an easy to install and high quality doorbell button in my opinion. It seems to be very well built and is very fairly priced I think. You take two screws out and then swap two wires from the old one and put it them on the new one, and then you're done. It takes less than five minutes in my experience. The only thing to watch out for is if you have a diode between the terminals in your old button, make sure you move that little device to the new button paying attention to the direction it is oriented. That is important for some systems that use a chime instead of the old fashioned bell and gong...figured that one out quickly. But overall, if you need a new doorbell button, go for this one and you should be fixed up quick for a fair price.

i had a problem with this as i specifically did not want a lite button as that would not work with my unpowered gate.. i had to dissect this and remove the light.. then it worked fine.

Just for a doorbell? No.
Just in case someone needs to drive onto the property and doesn't have a transmitter to open the electric gate we have a button on the gate post that will open it. Well, had a button. It's been broken for quite a while so I thought I would fix it with the least expensive button I could find. This one. Hooking it up is super easy, but I did run into a problem. One you won't have if you use this for your doorbell. This is a momentary button which is what I needed, but the button stays lit 24/7. What that means is a completed electrical circuit even though it's going through the bulbs filament. As soon as I hooked the two wires up the gate starts to move. I solved it by simply removing the bulb. I could have rewired it to keep the bulb lit all the time, but it wasn't worth the trouble. Who needs it lit out there anyway? If you need something simple to get by that works then this will do you.

Great value
I needed two buttons for my garage door opener and didn’t want to pay the ridiculously high price the home improvement stores charge, and this fits the bill nicely. They are appropriately priced, but do not look or feel cheap. They have a very solid feel. Like others mentioned, you must remove the little lightbulb (or install a resistor) if you use as a garage door opener.
