Yeah this is probably the issue
If your front loader washer is spinning badly out of balance, it might have worn out the shocks. It's not a difficult repair, but you'll need access to the front and back. The big trick to removing the old shocks is a deep socket (I think it was 1/2"?) that just barely fits over that hollow plastic pin that holds the shock in at each end. With that deep socket firmly inserted over the pin (or whatever they call it) that holds in the tab so you can pull it out from the back. YourTube or repair clinic dot com will have part numbers and a video on this for your particular front loading washing machine. They'll give you 1 new pin with the shocks, look at it & you'll understand how the deep socket works to get it off. While you're there anyway, it's not a bad idea to replace the springs before they break & the tub smashes everything around it. Like that unavailable $450 soap dish. You've already gone to all the trouble of opening the machine & getting this far. Might as well try to avoid the next unexpected repair.

Why They Give You That One Extra Pin
Our 20 year old Frigidaire washer needed fixing; cracked spider arm, worn out drum bearings and tired suspension springs caused both shock absorbers to break. It couldn't spin with a normal sized load of laundry, and the drum began banging against the inside of the metal cabinet, thump thump thump. I ordered these and the other parts, and installed the shocks first to help the machine limp along until I could take it out of service for a couple of days and fix it all. There's no indication on the package that these were produced by a Frigidaire/Kenmore/Electrolux supplier, just a small label on a plastic bag with no instructions. (Plenty of youTube repair videos out there though.) But they fit well, work as expected, were affordably priced and arrived quickly. Made a definite improvement in the stability of the bouncing drum, helped it to spin a bit better, and no more thumping sounds. And now I know why they give you just the one extra plastic split pin! If you do the repair with the washer in place, going in through the front of the machine's lower access panel (without removing the back panel), you will discover that the bottom pin on the right side shock absorber cannot be removed completely, because it backs up against the washer control box (which would require access from the back of the machine to remove). So you end up having to slice 1/2" off the front end of that pin with side cutters or a sharp utility knife, then push the shortened pin out enough to grab the back of it with pliers and remove. When you install the replacement pin, simply insert it 'backwards', and push it in from the front of the machine. These pins are made from a durable plastic, so the other 3 are re-useable. (It helps to add a light smear of plumber's grease to the pins before re-installing, and tap them in/out with a footlong chunk of 2x2 lumber and a small hammer...) WEAR MECHANIC'S GLOVES, there are sharp metal corners inside the machine. PS: I have no idea why they included those 4 extra hex nuts in the pkg.

Works
Purchased for Kenmore Washing Machine Model 417.44142400. Installed 01.12.18. As of 05.08.23, still in use with an average of about 10 loads of wash per month.

I wish I were as excited as SNL's Church Lady
Update 12/12/20 As others have noted, there was a bit of free play in the shocks. The washer had a bit of vibration during spin after installing the new shocks; it may have been attributable to this. At least it allowed the machine to work for a number of months. In November, it would no longer spin with clothing; it was fine with an empty drum. I did not tear apart the machine or have a tech come in to determine if the shocks went bad or if there were other issues. I was tired of dealing with it, and I wasn't going to invest in a 10 year old, mediocre machine at the end of its average life expectancy. I bit the bullet and bought a new, compact front loader, which is the only size that will now fit into my basement. It's like night and day. The new washer performs much better than the Frigidaire Affinity ever did. Bottom line for the shocks: If you can do it yourself, it was worth it to eek out a bit more life from the machine. However, be prepared to do it again or start your search for a replacement washer. ************************************************************************************************************************** Let's face it, this purchase is on par with purchasing a new starter for one's vehicle. There is no excitement involved, but not having a working part leaves the car's operation sub par (or in this case the washer). You will know your suspension is weakening if the washer vibrates excessively during its spins. Also, it can be a root cause for the washer not being able to spin. During the balancing routine, if the tub is too wobbly, it will register as an unbalanced load, and the machine will not initiate a spin. It is easy to determine this; just put the washer on a spin cycle without anything in the drum. If it spins OK, then there is a good chance a weak suspension is behind it. I tell you this as that was my method for narrowing down the vibration issue. To be fair, I think the best thing to do would be to replace both the shocks and the suspension springs at the same time, as the springs are also a wear item. However, I could not find a set of reasonably priced springs for my particular Frigidaire Affinity model; I am only willing to put so much into a ten year old machine. I noticed from watching some repair videos that the spring replacement is, surprisingly, more involved than the shocks. This is due to the need to further disassemble the machine to move the dispenser system out of the way of the left side spring. Brilliant engineering! Having said that, the machine's vibration is much subdued compared to a spin prior to the new shocks. Also, I have noticed that it seems more willing to initiate spins. Only time will tell how the shocks fare. As far as installation, YouTube was a great help for that. I did the job myself, though I'd suggest two people. The most difficult part was getting at some of the pins that hold the shocks in place. To get them back in without having to hit them as one reviewed showed, I followed a different review that used a wrench to ease them back into place. I did not break any of the original pins, so I reused all of them.

Fixes clunking, jumping front loader
If your washer wobbles and bangs when spinning an uneven load, then the old shocks probably need to be replaced. My old ones were completely destroyed. Note the instructions say you can replace these by just removing the front panel, but it was MUCH easier to do by removing the back panel and then loosening the electrical box that blocks access to the bottom mount of the shock. This probably varies by washer model. Watch some YouTube videos to see how it is done.

Genuine and working
I bought this product sold and shipped by amazon this time (after two attempts from a third party seller) and I finally got the real part in an electrolux bag. My only complaint is they just don't last. They last two years on average and they make a clunking noise. This new design is bad. My next washer will be an LG.

Work great as a replacement
They take 20 minutes to install and seem to work well. In my case the problem was with the spider arm, so I had to throw out the washer anyway, but this is a good replacement product, and most of the shocks in those machines are useless after ~10 years, so worth replacing.

so all is nice and tight
Magnificent! My washer is actually an older Kenmore, but the parts fit perfectly. They look different than the originals but fit and work properly. No noise in spite of what others had to say; perhaps their washers needed new springs, too - I changed a broken spring at the same time, so all is nice and tight. My only advice is WEAR GLOVES! Otherwise you WILL get scraped and cut installing these things. I'll also mention that these were almost half the price of anywhere else I shopped online and locally. They also arrived within a week instead of the possible 3 weeks. Great part, great service, great price, great timing.

For installation of shock kit, remove the rear panel of the washer and not just the front panel.
Good value for the price.

Fits and works
I replaced the pair of shock absorbers of my Frigidaire Gallery washer 2004/2005 model after my wife complained about the noise whenever the tub was turning. Some helpful YouTube videos make disassembling the washer to remove the broken parts much easier. I successfully took out the original 4 pins without breaking them using a hammer and pliers. Installing the new parts was easy, but you needed to hammer in the new pins. Coating the pin with some soap helped a little. The washer is running quietly now. Not sure how long it will last. I'm going to update this review once the noise comes back in the future. Updated on April 25, 2022. The washer made a loud noise, the same as before the repair. I bring the five stars down to three.

Great replacement for OEM!
I installed these shocks in an early model Kemore front load washer. Scale of difficulty on the left was maybe a “2” taking less than 5 minutes. However the right side tipped the scale at “10” taking most of 2 hours. The job was made difficult due to the washers components were in the way of pin fasteners removal and replacement. Once installed the washer works like new again. Silent spins, and instant load balancing producing quicker load duration.
