Base means underneath or the Bottom
It took me a minute to find the kg/st/lb button. It is not on the front of the scale, but on the bottom and is black, so it isn't easy to see. Otherwise the scale is very easy to set up and use. I am very happy with it.

Beautiful, straightforward and big
Update: The scale still looks good with minimal cleaning. it EATS BATTERIES. Way more than my previous impedance scale. And you need an itty bitty screwdriver to open the battery compartment. REALLY BAD FEATURE: If your weight fluctuates it has a tizzy fit and stops working for awhile. When I first got this--my second impedance scale, the first having broken from wear and tear--I was thrilled with how beautiful it is. I had been worried about the clear glass looking smeary, but so far that hasn't happened. When I went to set up the profiles, however, I could not make this new scale work. I was following the instructions and the pictures, and was about to send it back as defective, when I figured out it was the manual which was defective, not the scale! Luckily, I found the small print where it directs one to a website with a video which made everything clear. It's easy to set up, after all. WATCH THE VIDEO. There is a purpose to the beautiful curves. It allows for the feet of many different sized people to use this same scale. The low profile adds to the beauty and makes it feel especially steady and secure.

Scale is very sensitive, not sure about accuracy
This scale has been giving me more than a bit of grief. Similar problems to the reviews of the other body fat/water/muscle mass scale by Escali. 1. The scale has multiple profiles so data can be saved for multiple users, great. When you step on, it is supposed to choose the profile closest to your weight. So far, so good. My weight should only fluctuate by a few pounds between times I use this, at most. I have not set up any of the other profile slots. However, I have to manually select my profile *every* time I use it. This means choosing the "select" button about 5 times to get through re-entering the profile number, height, body type, and age. 2. Accuracy seems to be an issue. I only use the scale on what appears to be a very even surface: laminate flooring. All corners of the underside appear to be firmly on the floor. However, I usually get a variance of 20-30 pounds in measurement. If I move the scale very slightly and weigh again (and going through the above process another time) it will seem to measure accurately. But still, stepping off and back on has a variance of 2-3 pounds. The body fat/muscle mass/water percentages seem to stay relatively consistent. 3. I submitted a question to the company, Escali, over three weeks ago, via their website and have yet to hear a response. This is poor customer service and does not evoke much confidence in the company. This is not a scale I can simply step onto (as advertised) and have all of my info accurately displayed. It turns out to be a 5 minute endeavor. I am considering returning it to Amazon. It may be possible that my scale was bumped around too much in shipping--in the manual and on their website Escali says their scales are very sensitive and shouldn't be bumped or jarred at all. That's quite difficult to manage considering they get shipped! I'm a prime member and have free 2-day air service, so it should have been bumped *less* than average in shipping. My 2-star rating at this point seems a bit generous, since the product can't reliably perform it's most basic functions. It's possible I just got a "lemon." Otherwise, the scale is very attractive and seems solidly constructed. If mine worked properly, it would easily receive a 5-star rating.

Very simple to use
My last scale was this exact model and I loved it. We had it for quite some time and it eventually stopped working so we thought we'd try and be fancy and get a new scale that gave all sorts of readings including BMI. It was so sensitive that I could barely get my weight. Every shake of the leg would give an error reading and it took so long to read my weight, I couldn't help but to move slightly. On top of that, if you moved the scale ever so slightly, all of the settings would reset and you would have to put in all of your info again. That scale lasted maybe a week. I decided to go back to this scale which is incredibly easy to use, sturdy, and is exactly what I need. I highly recommend this product.

Needed, and worth it!
Overall: Great product, don't use on carpet or soft flooring (should be obvious). Pro: •Able to store more than one person's weight, goal weight, and progress. •Displays change in weight, if you go down or up. •Clear and visible numbers/display •Just the right size •Nice look to it Con: •Limited Functions •Glass; it says it can hold quite a bit of weight, however it is still glass. •Battery operated; this isn't terrible, like anything else with batteries, you just need to have some extras available.

Nice product even with the slight glitch with profiles
I originally purchased this scale to use for a body fat challenge (we were dropping body fat). The scale is relatively easy to program and comes with a booklet that has clear instructions as well as a chart for what average measurements displayed on the scale mean. When you initially set it up you will need to put in some personal data (age, height, fitness level, gender). There are also several profile slots available on the scale so you can share with other people in your household; as they will each need to use their own profile to get correct measurements (other than weight). The scale worked perfectly for a few weeks but then started randomly selecting other profiles when I go to step on the scale. I am the only one using this scale and there is only one profile programmed so it is slightly annoying as I have to select the correct profile number and wait for the scale to run through the data before I can use it most days. It's a minimal issue to an otherwise good working device. I have yet to go and have a more accurate body fat test done in order to compare it with what the scale displays, but it seems to be pretty close to the correct measurements. I would recommend this scale even with the small hiccup in profile selection at times.

Echte Fehlkonstruktion
Keine Ahnung wie man eine Waage produzieren kann, die gleich nach vier Seiten (vorne, hinten, links und rechts) abkippt (!!!), wenn man sich nicht genau mittig draufstellt. Das stelle ich mir besonders dann nicht lustig vor, wenn irgendwie Feuchtigkeit im Spiel sein sollte; ich hatte jedenfalls schon mit trockenen Füßen wh. Schrecksekunden. Es stellt sich definitiv "kein sicheres Standgefühl ein"!. Weiterhin ist das Batteriefach für die Knopfzellen auf der Rückseite noch zusätzlich durch 2 "Miniaturschrauben" gesichert, mit denen wohl Uhrmacher od. Leute aus der Mikroelektronik was anfangen könnte - winziger geht's nicht. Für einen Batteriewechsel sind eine Pinzette und ein sehr kleiner Uhrmacherschraubenzieher unverzichtbar, - also nichts für Normalsterbliche (od. gar Grobmotoriker...). So weit so schlecht, war es dann auch "nicht mehr wirklich" überraschend, dass auch die Diplay-Einstellungen - außer der Grundeinstellung/-anzeige auf Kg - nicht funktionierten. Der hierzu u. a. in der - übrigens auch nur in Englisch, Spanisch, Französisch gehaltenen - Bedienungsanleitung gegebene Hinweis "Press Enter" führte bei etwas verstärkten Versuchen die Enter-Taste zum Leben zu erwecken, nur zum erneutem Abkippen der Waage (diesmal nach vorn). Wahrscheinlich hat sich jemand bei der Hersteller-Fa. gedacht: "Hey, wir könnten doch mal die Praktikantinnen aus der Ing.- u. Design-Abteilung beauftragen zusammen 'ne Waage zu bauen, das stärkt den Teamgeist...!"...ja klar, und verärgert Kunden. 1 Stern für das schicke Design - funktional ist die Waage gleich mehrfach Schrott. - Klare Kaufwarnung - !
