Super light weight

Got these for my husband for vacation. He says they feel so light and comfortable. They packed super well because they’re so thin and they weren’t all wrinkled. The style is so nice he could wear them on excursions or for a nice dinner.

Good for outdoors use - kinda "matty"where they don't need to be.

This review is for the big people who are not full-time outdoor hipsters. I've been doing more outdoor activities over the past year and have been learning about all the happening fabrics and "light this, light that" that seems to be part and parcel of the outdoor enthusiasts world. A few outings in thick cotton shirts and shorts (that never dry from sweat) motivated me to try these shorts. First the good. Fit my 2X bottom quite well. Light (took some getting used to due to the thinner fabric). Dries like a pair of swim shorts. Looks smart and seems to get acknowledged from those more experienced than I on the trail. Not really so much a "bad" but just some things to keep in mind. As weighty and non-evaporative as cotton is there is a reason for its popularity - it ventilates pressed-against areas very well (at least until wet). You'll never know how well cotton works in this regard until you sit on a non-porous seating surface in these nylon shorts. The thin fabric of these pants left my butt feeling clammy as if I sat on a plastic garbage bag. Also before the day is over, your crotch area will feel, eh, yucky, compared to jeans or other cotton. Again, not big issues - just be prepared if you perspire easily. I will still recommend getting these Columbia shorts on the basis of fit and that they perform and feel as promised. Just takes a little getting used to. I will probably not be wearing them around the house but they have their place on hikes.

My new favorite shorts

These are incredibly lightweight, comfortable, well-made, and even work as a swimsuit in a pinch. The only downside is they do make kind of a swishy noise as you walk. Doesn’t really bother me but worth noting.

Smooth, Handsome Shorts

These are super good looking shorts with nothing sticking out for a nice streamlined look. In the picture of the Cypress shorts it looks as though the back pockets bulge, but they don't unless they have something in them. The waist does have some gathered stretch to it, but not like geezer shorts. I bought my husband the Cypress color which is a medium green. Inexplicably, they do have one horizontal zipper on the left leg that has a thin bright orange placket. I like the way it looks, but I am not sure everybody will. I wasn't sure my husband would wear this color because until now he has always insisted on beige, beige, beige. Surprisingly, he put them on when we went out to dinner last night. And it wasn't because they were his only clean pair. The fabric looks and feels like it will dry quickly, but doesn't look cheap. I have been buying Columbia brand shorts for my husband for years and can't remember ever being disappointed.

Inconsistent fit

I ordered a pair of Columbia Silver Ridge Cargo shorts for my husband and they fit very nicely (he is slim, but has a round butt so requires a relaxed fit across the hips for slacks and shorts). He was very happy with the style of the shorts ... plenty of pockets but without the "bulkiness" found on some cargo shorts. I had ordered the 10-inch inseam, but he decided he would prefer the 12-inch inseam. So, I returned the first pair of shorts and ordered three more in different colors in exactly the same size and style but with the 12-inch inseam. They arrived today and, while the 12-inch inseam looks much better on him and the waist fits fine, every one of those three pairs of shorts are snug across the front (snug to the point of being revealing). His size has not changed for years let alone in the span of a week!. Nice shorts, but disappointing that one cannot rely on consistent sizing and cut.

Light and good for outdoors

Nice and light material, great for out walking on a hot day. The length was a bit longer than expected but still fit me fine. Comes with a nice adjustable material belt that is washable

Pensavo meglio

I pantaloni sono estremamente leggeri, sicuramente comodi ma troppo lunghi (forse il mio modello e quello da 12 e non da 10) la taglia 32 è perfetta per una 48. La cintura in dotazione è invece proprio bruttina l'ho sostituita con un'altra. Le tasce laterali sono comode ma le cose ballano dentro, forse perchè il tessuto è estremamente leggero e ha me danno fastidio. Preferisco quindi altre marche del settore.

Very wide cut

I bought W34 and it is acceptable in the belly area (I had to use a belt provided) but is way too wide in the leg area, probably this cut was designed for our American friends :) Material is typical cheap synthetics, quick to dry, so far no color leak Manufacturing quality is average (china OEM for Columbia)

Muy ligeros y frescos

Se ven y se sienten de buena calidad. No pesa. Y puedo usarlo todo el día sin molestia. El cinturón incluído también funciona muy bien. Fue excelente compra.
